Is your mindset setting you up for success?

🧠 Is your mindset setting you up for success? 🧠

In 2007, Crum & Langer wanted to find out if the relationship between exercise and health could be moderated by mindset. 84 female room attendants were asked if they exercised (they did not) and then they were measured on physiological health variables affected by exercise. Those women in the informed condition were told that the work they do is good exercise and satisfies the recommendations for a active lifestyle. The control group were not given this information and do continued to think they did not workout. Four weeks after the intervention AND without a change in behaviour, subjects in the informed group saw a decrease in weight, blood pressure, body fat, waist to hip ratio and body mass index! Similar results have been found in studies looking at ageing, stress, nutrition and exercise. ⭐️ MINDSET IS POWERFUL!⭐️ That’s not to say being overwhelmingly positive or that thinking, feeling and acting differently will change the facts of the world. Mindset isn’t limitless. You’ll still age, reap the benefits of exercise, gain and lose weight depending on calorie consumption, feel stress, etc BUT there is sufficient evidence to show that our mindset - while not limitless - is not as finite as you might as first think...
